On March 21-22, 2014, Germantown Baptist Church hosted the inaugural Missional Marketplace Summit. The Missional Marketplace Summit, the vision of GBC Senior Pastor, Charles A. Fowler, brought together business professionals from all faiths and business backgrounds for the express purpose of learning to share the Gospel more effectively with their peers in the business world.
Over 500 people from IT, finance, logistics, heavy industry, electronics, and many other market segments gathered to hear speakers from numerous business backgrounds share how the Gospel of Jesus Christ impacts their lives and how they live their faith in the marketplace. Attendees came from as far away as India and Thailand to participate in the Summit.
Guest speakers included Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell, City of Memphis Mayor AC Wharton, Baptist Memorial Health Care Executive Vice President and COO Jason Little, CEO of Barnhart Crane and Rigging Alan Barnhart, Fox13 News Anchor Mearl Purvis and many others spoke on topics ranging from Living an Integrated Life in the Global Marketplace to The Church’s Role in Business to The Next Generation Impacting the Marketplace.
After the Summit, attendees will be encouraged to join the Missional Marketplace Network; small groups composed of business professionals in related market segments for the express purpose of idea sharing, support and accountability.
